Neskowin Ghost Forest

Just a 20-minute drive south of Pacific City lies one of the Oregon Coast’s most mysterious natural wonders: the Neskowin Ghost Forest. Here, ancient Sitka spruce stumps, believed to be nearly 2,000 years old, stand rooted in the sand, remnants of a massive earthquake or tsunami that buried the forest centuries ago. Revealed after a winter storm in the late 1990s, the eerie stumps emerge at low tide and offer a fascinating, otherworldly glimpse into the region’s geologic past.
